กว่าจะมาเป็น Twin Mix Postcards Thailand Mini Art project
วัฒนธรรม ในเมืองไทยมีหลายหลาก ซึ่งมันได้เป็นการรวมของวัฒนธรรมจากต่างที่ไว้ด้วยกัน ทั้งจีน ไทย อินเดีย และวัฒนธรรมตะวันตก ทำให้เราอยู่ร่วมกันได้ในอดีต ปัจจุบันการอนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรม ถูกตีความหลายหลากตามแต่ละองค์กรให้ความสำคัญ แต่ส่วนใหญ่แล้วเป็นการรักษาไว้ซึ่งของเก่าแก่ ไม่ได้ต่อยอดรับเอาสิ่งต่างๆ ในยุคปัจจุบันมาปรับแก้ไข ทำให้วัยรุ่นหรือคนไทยในปัจจุบันเห็นเป็นเรื่องล้าสมัย ไม่ใส่ใจรักษาของเก่าแก่ไว้ เพราะเห็นว่าเป็นเรื่องไกลตัว ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องน่าเป็นห่วง และกลัวบางสิ่งที่บางคนตีค่าความหมายวัฒนธรรมของตัวเองสูงส่ง เลิศหรู จนมองของอีกฝ่ายเป็นเรื่องน่ารังเกียจ ทั้งที่จริงแล้ว ล้วนมาจากการอยู่ร่วมกันในอดีตทั้งสิ้น
ดังนั้นทีมงานเล็กๆ อย่างนกฮูกดีไซน์ จึงอยากจัดงานอันส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมอันมีความใหม่และความเก่าเข้าหากัน เพื่อให้เป็นที่สนใจ ของคนทั่วไป ได้มองวัฒนธรรมอันหลากหลายของไทยในปัจจุบันนี้ อยู่ร่วมกันได้ โดยใช้งานศิลปะอันหลากหลายแขนงเป็นตัวเชื่อม และถ่ายทอดเป็นผลงานศิลปะโดยนักออกแบบชาวไทย
จำนวน 24 ท่าน คัดจากหลากหลายสาขาอาชีพ ทำงานร่วมกันโดยวิธีการจับฉลากเข้าคู่ 2 คนต่อ 1 ชิ้นงาน ผลิตเป็นโปสการ์ดเพื่อจำหน่าย รายได้หลังหักค่าใช้จ่ายมอบให้การกุศล
งานนี้เป็นงานทดลอง ที่ี่จัดโดยทีมงานเล็กๆ 2 คน และเป็นงานแรกในชีวิตที่จัดทำโครงการระดับประเทศ
ด้วยเงินน้อยนิดในประเทศไทย

The overture

Multiculturalism in Thailand has for a long time existed, which is the combination from the cultures flowing from many countries like China, India, Western and those of Thailand. These combination made people live together harmoniously in the past. However, the interpretations of ‘culture conservation’ were broken apart into many ways, depending on what organization defines it. Most of them regard the conservation as the means to freeze and preserve the old one, by resisting the extended development that might come from outer factors in the present time. These factors caused up-coming generations to see old culture as something old-fashioned and lack their interests. We see this situation with worrisome feeling as culture is not at all ‘things untouchable’ and as well, one should not discriminate other’s cultures or sub-cultures as everything has shaped what we are from the past to the present.

Consequently, Nokhookdesign wants to create the stimulation and inspiration that would be friendly to both old and new cultures and present them to the eyes of public. We thought it would be nice to manifest that the variety of cultures do really exist and they are linked together by arts. The cool and funky artworks in the postcards are designed by 24 Thai designers from different fields in which 12 pairs created 12 works. Part of proceedings from this project will go to charities and be as a fund for the next possible projects.

This experimental project was mainly organized by two little persons (with some helps and co-operations from our alliances). It is our first project and it was run by just little sum of money to make it to this big scope. Hope it will at least give you some content feelings in mind.

นกฮูกทีม ประกอบด้วยกราฟฟิค หนุ่มนักเขียน และนักแปลสาว อันเป็นลูกหลานคนเมืองขนานแท้และแน่นอน ที่ไม่ต้องการเห็นวัฒนธรรมถูกแช่แข็งหรือเทิดทูนเอาไว้แต่ในตู้โชว์ จึงร่วมกันแสวงหาพื้นที่ส่วนกลางระหว่างคำว่าแบบแผนดั้งเดิมและสมัยใหม่ ผลิตสินค้าทำมืออย่างสร้างสรรค์ ด้วยหวังจะให้วัฒนธรรมล้านนาเติบโตไปอย่างพอดิบพอดี หมุนตามกระแสโลก แต่ไม่ลืมรากเหง้าของตัวเอง ผ่านการต่อสู้เล็กๆ ด้วยธุรกิจ ขายเสื้อยืด และโปสการ์ดแนวกราฟฟิค ที่ถนนคนเดินวันอาทิตย์

หวังไว้เล็กๆ ว่า งานเขียนชิ้นนี้ อาจช่วยสะกิดเตือนความยึดมั่นถือมั่นในวัฒนธรรมของตัวเอง (จนเกินพอดี) ไม่ยอมรับการเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลก อันจะทำให้งานสร้างสรรค์ที่จะเกิดขึ้นมาใหม่ๆ ตายดับ และงานเก่าสูญหาย เหลืออยู่แต่เพียงในตำราเรียน อย่างน่าเสียดาย

Nokhook team consists of a male graphic designer and writer, and another female translator who could be called as the genuine locals. As their main ground was not to freeze the culture to be dying in the changing world but to find some space or middle pathway between the words traditional and modern, accordingly all of their handmade products – original style T-shirt and postcards – are created with basic anticipation to see the Lanna culture developing harmoniously among the modernity without abandoning their roots. Their struggling in creating new sub-culture is reflected through their products which is available at every Sunday Market Walking Street.

It is hoped that this article could at least give a signal for many people to be well aware of the too-strict infatuation in the old culture that never mind the changes of the world around them and definitely is the cause of the new culture and sub-culture’s extinction and, at the same time, left traditional culture dying desperately unnoticed in school textbooks forever and after.
